Many New Zealanders are completely unaware that jumps racing persists in their country. From May to August approximately 23 cruel jumps events are held across New Zealand racetracks, forcing horses to negotiate obstacles whilst travelling at high speeds with a jockey on their back.
Four horses were reported to have been killed in the 2020 NZ jumps racing season. Many more were injured and have not been seen on the racetrack since – their status unknown.
Please join our 2023 Ban Jumps Racing campaign to call out this brutal animal abuse in the name of gambling profits and entertainment. Come along to our protests (listed below). Or, if you want to get more involved, you can also help behind the scenes, or plan your own protest at your local track – support provided. Simply complete our volunteer form here.
