MELBOURNE: Farshans On The Field | Nup to the Cup Picnic

Bringing together two of Melbourne’s favourite past times – fashion and sport, we deliver to you a free alternative to the old ‘Race that stops a nation’, to say ‘NUP THE CUP!
Dress up (but don’t feel obliged to)! Come to what has become known as the most fun day on the animal activist calendar and enjoy the cruelty free food, drinks and free ente

MELBOURNE: Nup to the Cup at Red Sparrow Pizza

What better way to raise money for horses than by eating pizza with friends? This Melbourne Cup Day Red Sparrow Pizza will be hosting their second annual Nup to the Cup event to raise money for our vital work for horses used by the racing industry.  For bookings click here.

MELBOURNE: Nup to the Cup Walking tour

Melbourne Vegan Walking Tours will be hosting a special walking tour as a peaceful protest to say Nup to the Cup. Venues still to be determined. Stay tuned for more information. Spots limited to 10 people.

MELBOURNE: Melbourne Musicians Against Melbourne Cup

Identical Records take over The Tote for their annual fundraiser showcasing some of Melbourne’s finest musicians against the Melbourne Cup to raise money for The Winged Horse Equine Welfare Inc.

MELBOURNE: Handsome Her says Nup to the Cup

The only cup Handsome Her care about is your cup of coffee (sorry they’ve been saving that one for while) so if you want to enjoy your day in a place that is 100% cruelty-free, pop down to Handsome Her and hang with them.  They have home-made pastries and desserts, delicious meals, a wicked booze list and sunny courtyard to keep everybody happy. MELBOURNE: Monday Night Mass presents ‘Up Yours Cup

Monday Night Mass asks you to remember that horse racing is a barbaric, brutal example of what passes for sport, with the exploitation of animals at the core of its greedy gambling heart.

MELBOURNE: F*ck the Cup After Party at The Old Bar

MELBOURNE & SURROUNDS: Cafes saying Nup to the Cup

Melbourne’s favourite hole in the wall vegan jaffle hub, Union Kiosk will be boycotting horse cruelty by donating $1 from every coffee sold toward our work to end horse cruelty.

The delicious Powerplant Cafe will be donating all takings from the sales of their special horse decorated cookie to us to say Nup to the Cup.

Echuca’s The Sweet Meadow will be very generously donating all proceeds from the Nup to the Cup coffee sales to help us help horses used by the racing industry.

SYDNEY: Nup to the Cup lunch at Bodhi

If you love horses not races and want to support them rather than exploit them, join this kind event to make something good out of an otherwise sad day.

The Newtown Hotel aren’t about horse racing… so instead they are becoming an island from all the other venues around them… that won’t be televising the Melbourne Cup or
hosting some fancy lunch for suits to bet on some horse because their name is cute!

Instead they will be having LIVE + LOCAL sets from our Newtown musicians + putting on a KARMA KEG from their good friends at Yulli’s Brews! SYDNEY: Animal Liberation Outreach

Join Animal Liberation as they outreach in the Sydney CBD to inform members of the public about the cruel realities of horse racing. They will have educational pamphlets,

CANBERRA: Melbourne Cup Protest

Unite with the Anti-Speciesist Action Collective and Vegan ACT to protest the Melbourne Cup Day races from 10:30-12:00

The racing industry has operated for over 150 years in Australia without considering the animals exploited for entertainment. Horses suffer tremendously throughout their time as competitors and when their “career” is up, so is their life.  Make it clear that horse racing is a horrendous, cruel sport that needs to end. BRISBANE: ALQ Vegan Drinks, Nup to the Cup edition!

Join Animal Liberation Queensland any time during the evening at Tippler’s Tap in Fortitude Valley – guaranteed no cup replays, just good company, craft beers, a range of other drinks (alcoholic and non), and great vegan food options including sheese and chick’n burgers, chilli fries, plant-based hot dogs and $3 vegan tacos.

This is a casual event, so last minute RSVPs and late arrivals are all fine. This year (and every year) Plant Based Punx is saying Fuck The Cup.

ADELAIDE: Canine Cup (March 2019)

The Canine Cup is much like a race day luncheon – except better in every way!

Vegan catered and the races you watch are of pre-recorded dogs running (or not if they don’t want to) from their human to another, calling them. No whips, drugs, added weight.

4-course luncheon, live music, fashion competition, and unlimited photo booth all inclusive, with all proceeds assisting the efforts of Guardian Angel Animal Rescue. Tickets and further details here.
