Earlier this year, the winner of the $300k Grand National hurdle in 2023 was killed after sustaining his final racing injury. His name was San Remo.
San Remo miraculously survived three falls, numerous injuries and 87 races including 21 jumps races before his body finally gave in.
So far, a total of nine jumps horses have been killed this year:
