Join us when Animal Liberation SA and Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses stand up for the horses forced to run at the Adelaide Cup.
Last racing year, 2022/2023, five horses died on track in South Australia. Hundreds more were injured on track, which is likely to have caused many of these horses to be moved off track and killed elsewhere out of sight from the public.
One of the horses killed off track, was 6-year-old City Beats. He panicked and acted out in fear already in the float upon arrival on the racetrack and sustained a knee injury. He was scratched from the race and subsequently killed. City Beats had been scratched from four previous races due to being lame.
In respect of City Beats, Cheeky Grace, Bonniesix, Good Approach, Mista Holyfield and all other racehorses who has died from racing, we will hold a silent vigil to remember them on the day of the Adelaide Cup.
We will meet near the entrance by the Morphettville tram stop at 10am. Placards will be provided. Please bring refreshments and appropriate clothing for the weather.
Thank you for showing the horses they haven’t been forgotten.
